1.Books are for use→書貴為用
2.Books are for all→書為人而設
3.Every book its reader→讀者有書
4.Save the time of reader→節省讀者的時間
5.Library is a growing organism→圖書館是一成長的有機體


根據克福特(W.Crawford)和高曼(M.Gorman)的說法圖書館學新五律有以下五點：

1.Library serve humanity→圖書館為全人類服務而存在
2.Respect all forms by which Knowledge is communicated→知識傳遞多面性
3.Protect free access to knowledge→捍衛知識近用權
4.Use technology intelligently to enhanced service→善用科技提升服務品質
5.Honor the past and create the future→眺望過去、展望未來
